Laser Tattoo Removal... How much does it cost?

So, you've decided to have a tattoo removed or faded. Step one. Complete.
Now you are probably wondering.... how much is this going to cost me? The answer I can give you isn't simple but it is honest. Tattoo removal is affordable. It is also worth the time and money. Each removal center is different and so is each tattoo. Some centers charge for the initial consultation. Some centers charge a fee to get in the door and then a certain amount depending on the size per treatment. The tattoo may fade faster or slower depending on the ink used, the age of the tattoo and the location on your body and your over all health. The healthier you are, the faster your tattoo will fade. Every tattoo is different and so is every person.
At Elimination Station, we want life to be simple. You can book a free consultation here. Or, you can email us a picture of your tattoo for a consultation over the phone, here. We will never charge you for a consultation and will always leave time for your first treatment after your consultation, if you so choose. We charge a flat fee per treatment depending on the size of your tattoo. This will be discussed with you in your consultation. We will be honest and upfront with how many sessions we feel it will take to remove your tattoo. This doesn't mean we will be spot on every time. This means we want you to have reasonable expectations for the journey ahead of you. Elimination Station offers packages for multiple sessions that can help you save money. We pride ourselves on providing safe and efficient laser tattoo removal services. Contact us today to go over your options!

" The greatest wealth is health." This could not be more true. In the case of laser tattoo removal, immune health and over all health are essential. The process of your tattoo fading depends on your body's immune system and over all health. The healthier you are, the faster your body will push the ink out of your system. What does this mean for you? Less treatments. Faster results. Drinking lots of water and exercises can help with this process as it aides in speeding up the healing process. Also, as a way to better help our valuable customers with this process, Elimination Station promotes health and wellness products, by Advocare. Their wide range of herbal cleanses and supplements can help give your body the extra help it needs to push ink out, safely and naturally.

r20: what's the scoop?

If you're anything like me, you have done a little (or a lot) of research on laser tattoo removal before making any major decisions. I know I had no idea what to expect or look for.  I did extensive research before I came to any final choices. When I was doing this research, I stumbled upon a procedure that seemed too good to be true.... and that's because it was!

The R20 Method: What is it?
"R" stands for repeating and 20 for the time between treatments. This method is a series of 4 treatments spaced 20 minutes apart. It claims to be, "much more effective than conventional laser tattoo treatments, removing most tattoos in just one session."

Awesome! Sign me up! All the research I had done said to wait 6-8 weeks between sessions and I can sit for about 80 minutes and have my tattoo pretty much gone. Perfect. Except, it's not.

The study of this method is a Greek study published in 2011 by American Academy of Dermatology.
  • The study was only done on black tattoos. The study supports no data for colored tattoos.
  • This method caused greater epidermal injury and increased the risk of side effects. ( blisters, scabbing, scarring and skin discoloration)
  • The study was done with an uncommon laser ( Alexandrite)
  • Only 12 patients were included in the study
  • The study was only done on very fair colored skin types
My hopes for this specific blog are to inform you. I want you to know the facts so you, like I did, can make your own informed choice about where and how you want your treatment to go. We, at Elimination Station, do not practice the R20 Method. We feel the skin and immune system are not given adequate time to heal properly and safely.

laser snow first treatment tattoo removalImmediately after the first treatment.
We know that deciding to get laser tattoo fading or removal is a big decision. We also know once the decision is made to proceed with treatments, you want to see results as soon as possible. However, in order to perform laser treatments safely and efficiently here are a few things you need to keep in mind:

  •  Laser tattoo fading and removal can not be rushed.
  • You must wait at least 6 weeks between sessions. Your skin and immune system must completely recover before we can proceed with each session.

  • Most tattoos take between 3-12 sessions to remove completely. The average number of sessions needed is 5-8. This is dependent on skin type, age of the tattoo, the type of ink used and the way your body reacts to treatments. Every tattoo is different.
  • You will see " laser snow" or a white foaming on your tattoo after your treatment is first completed. This can last any where from a few minutes to a few hours. It can even make it look as though the tattoo is gone. This goes away and you may not see any actual results for 2 or more weeks. It takes time for the body's immune system to flush the ink.
  • A brand new tattoo may need several treatments before any results are seen.
  • If we are removing a cover up, the original tattoo is still underneath. Cover ups will fade faster than the original tattoo and the original tattoo may need additional treatments.

after care... what should you know?

Aftercare is necessary with any medical procedure and is definitely needed after a laser tattoo removal treatment. Proper aftercare helps prevent infection and any other unwanted side effects. We highly recommend you follow our aftercare instructions to ensure the safest and most effective results.

  •  Keep the treated area clean and dry while it is healing. Clean the area gently with soap and water and then pat to dry. Apply the correct and calm serum, provided by Elimination Station, on the treated area 3 times a day and cover with a sterile bandage. Repeat this process for 3 days following a treatment.

  • Over time, blisters or scabs may form and may last up to two weeks. It is very important that you do not pick or pop any of these as they may cause scarring and infection. Remember, these are natural responses to the treatment and are your body’s way of telling you that it is healing and removing the ink from your skin. Once a blister has popped naturally, continue to apply antibiotic ointment, such as Neosporin, onto the area for the next 24 hours.

  • If you experience any discomfort or inflammation, we suggest applying a cold compress onto the treated area 24 hours after receiving laser treatment. Tylenol can also be taken but stay away from Aspirin – it can increase your chances of bruising and/or bleeding.

  • Showers can be taken as long as high-pressure water is not hitting the treated area directly. Avoid baths, hot tubs, swimming pools, or any soaking of the treated area.

  • Itchiness is a common side effect and can be treated by applying moisturizers such as Aquaphor, vitamin E ointment, or Neosporin can be used, but we recommend and provide a calming serum from Dermamedics.
  • Stay hydrated. Drinking water will help aid your body in flushing out the ink and speed up the healing process.
  • Wait 6-8 weeks in-between treatments. Your skin and your immune system need to heal completely before each new treatment.

As long as you follow these instructions and take special care of your treated tattoo, you will see beautiful, clear results. If you are worried about any side effects or have any questions regarding our aftercare instructions, don’t hesitate to call our office.
