We know that deciding to get laser tattoo fading or removal is a big decision. We also know once the decision is made to proceed with treatments, you want to see results as soon as possible. However, in order to perform laser treatments safely and efficiently here are a few things you need to keep in mind:
- Laser tattoo fading and removal can not be rushed.
- You must wait at least 6 weeks between sessions. Your skin and immune system must completely recover before we can proceed with each session.
- Most tattoos take between 3-12 sessions to remove completely. The average number of sessions needed is 5-8. This is dependent on skin type, age of the tattoo, the type of ink used and the way your body reacts to treatments. Every tattoo is different.
- You will see " laser snow" or a white foaming on your tattoo after your treatment is first completed. This can last any where from a few minutes to a few hours. It can even make it look as though the tattoo is gone. This goes away and you may not see any actual results for 2 or more weeks. It takes time for the body's immune system to flush the ink.
- A brand new tattoo may need several treatments before any results are seen.
- If we are removing a cover up, the original tattoo is still underneath. Cover ups will fade faster than the original tattoo and the original tattoo may need additional treatments.
